A bold presidential call … demands the renewal of the religious discourse

When the researcher and Islamic thinker Ali Muhammad Al-Shurafa Al-Hammadi completed his important book «Muslims  … Between Religious Speech and the Divine Speech», issued by «Al-Nokhba House for Printing, Publishing and Distribution», he was keen to dedicate this distinguished intellectual and enlightenment work and detailed research about the need to renew the religious discourse to the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The researcher did this for an important reason mentioned in the dedication of the book, which is included in the following lines:

In the introduction of his research, the Islamic thinker Ali Al-Shurafa says: “I dedicate this book to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, who launched a call that shook the Arab mind to renew the religious speech. This call has awakened the rusty minds of people. Those people have abandoned the book of Allah and replaced it with human tales. This led to the freeze of their minds. Those people surrendered to the Israeli tales and stories that have poisoned the minds of Muslims who neglected their duty of thinking, which Allah ordered the believers so they can understand His message to them. Allah says: ” control their minds speech to them, where he says: “And when the unbelievers are told to recognize Allah’s revelations consenting to them, they say: «We only lean on our fathers system of faith and worship.» But how will it be if their fathers lacked sound Judgement in choosing means and ends and miss the path of righteousness!” (Al-Baqarah: 170)

There are several terrorist acts committed by some Islamic groups in the Arab world and some countries of the world. There are crimes committed by these Islamic groups in the name of Islam. The actions of these groups have distorted the noble message of Islam and the Islamic call for mercy, justice, freedom and peace as mentioned in the verses of the Holy Quran.

The need to renew religious discourse

Mr. President, your historical call have awakened the calls for correcting the religious discourse. The goal is to stimulate thought, and to awaken the Islamic minds to research in the book of Allah and in the causes of what happened, and what is taking place in the world and the Arab arena in the name of Islam.

With all faith in Allah, I have reacted to your call. This call has included in its depth a self-contained rebellion. This rebellion rejects what distorts the image of Islam or insults the Prophet of Mercy. This rebellion looks for the reasons that created the state of aggression against the human beings that led thousands of young people to fall into organizations of killing and terrorism. Since everything has a reason, and every action has a result, it is necessary to search for the true reasons that led to that disaster.

Allah has sent his message to the people included in the divine speech, the Holy Quran, and the Almighty began his speech saying: (Read in the Name of Allah your Creator, Who created and brought everything, spiritual, animate and inanimate into being. He created man from a clinging organism. and realize that Allah, your Creator is most generous. He taught by the pen, (the main instrument of learning and knowledge, the instrument of authorship. He taught man what he did not know.). (Al-Alaq: 1-5)

In these verses, Allah addresses the believers’ minds, and calls people to think, He speak with his creation with reason. The aim is to convince the mind about the good ideas, and then these ideas will firmly be rooted in the human heart. These ideas will be protected by the mind against any negative effects, religious statements, or false stories seeking to distort what he believed in and understood of true facts and verses of the Holy Qur’an. These verses present a call to think on the cosmic facts. The verses motivate the human mind and provoke it to interact with them and with the mentioned facts to reach a state of certainty that Allah is the sole God and He has no partner, He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Moreover, the verses provoke us to interact with the divine speech which Allah sent to all people.

Koranic verses.. Islam is not the exclusive domain of a group or sect

As the Almighty says: (We have not sent you, -O Muhammad- to the people at large but to serve as a spectacle and a warning but most people do fail to realize this fact.) (Saba: 28)

Allah also said: ” Tell them; there is no Ilah but Him Who gives life and occasions death. Therefore, you people had better believe in Allah with hearts impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues, and accept with consenting mind His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet who solemnly believes in Allah and His divine words -those inspired to him and to other Messengers before him-. You had better give credence; to his statement and discourse on practical divinity and follow him so that you may hopefully be guided to the path of righteousness“. (Al A’raf: 158)

And the Almighty said: (Say to them Muhammad: «O you people, now has the truth come to you from Allah, your Creator, and he who chooses to follow the path of righteousness shall only profit his own soul, and he who chooses to stray and loses himself in the maze of error shall only harm his own soul, and I am not here to watch over your innocence and folly.» (Yunus: 108)

The above verses mentioned that Allah sent His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to all people, and did not send him to a certain sect or class of people, where all people are equal in front of Allah, and each is held accountable for his own deeds, and everyone is rewarded according to it. This asserts the following:

First, the divine discourse, the Holy Quran, is directed at all people without distinction of religion, creed, sect, class, sect or group.

Second: The Islamic message contained in the Holy Quran addresses all people, through intellectual interaction with the verses in His holy book, to enable them to devise the necessary legislation to organize their worldly affairs and to follow the noble values of Islam in behavior and dealing with all human beings. We should consider Allah verse saying: “O you people; We created you from the union of a twain, male and female, and We divided you into nations and communities and dispersed you over the earth to get to know each other and not to boast your descent or rank. The one among you whom Allah values most and is held precious in His esteem is he who keeps Allah in mind and acquaints his heart with wisdom, and regards Allah with breast filled with reverential awe. Allah is Alimun, and Khabirun (intimately acquainted with all things).“. (Al Hujurat: 13)

Third: This verse confirms the fall of all social privileges in the name of religion, and the absence of a distinct religious class similar to the class of priests in some faiths, which govern in the name of religion. They guide the human societies according to their political and material, emotional and moral goals. All people are equal before the law in this life, Before Allah, in the doomsday; all human beings are going to be equal and will only be distinguished according to the deeds.
